Internship Opportunities
K-12 Education interns will spend more time helping children register for school, get required vaccinations and school physicals, and doing after school tutoring.
Adult ESL & CO interns will spend more time leading and assisting in ESL and Cultural Orientation classes, which teach basic English and topics like transportation, housing, and cultural adjustment.
Immigration Interns will spend more time assisting our immigration counselor with citizenship applications, adjustment of status, petitions to bring relatives to the United States, and other immigration matters.
Case Management interns will spend more time helping clients to apply for social service benefits like SNAP (food stamps) and TANF, preparing for new arrivals by setting up apartments, and helping clients navigate their first 90 days in the US.
Health interns will spend more time helping clients with scheduling doctors’ appointments and LogistiCare taxis, teaching clients to get to their medical appointment by bus, and conducting public health education.
Intensive Case Management interns will spend time assisting with the organization and management of summer activities for children, groups for adults and community events. May require work on some weekends and evenings.
Community Engagement Interns will assist with communications, including press releases, web design, written and graphic content updates, social media, marketing initiatives, and informational materials creation.
Additional General Job Duties:
- Assist with greeting clients, answering phones, and
scheduling appointments at our reception desk - Help staff maintain and update case files and case notes
- Teach or tutor children or adults in English or cultural
orientation sessions. - Provide transportation in personal vehicle to medical or
social service appointments - Informal interpretation (if the intern is fluent in a second
language) - Assist staff with other duties as needed.
Internships require a minimum of 12 hours per week during normal business hours of 8:30am-4:30pm. Occasionally, after hours and weekend hours may be available.
Due to high community interest and the schedules of our busy staff, we are not able to accommodate all students who would like to work with us. Interns are therefore chosen based on how well their schedule, availability, skills and interest meet the needs of our clients and staff.
